IAC launches campaign to make govt offices corruption free

Chennai:
After lending their voice to Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, India Against Corruption (IAC) activists in the city launched a campaign on Thursday to make government offices corruption free.

Armed with stickers and a certificate, the activists launched their campaign after signing up Chennai collector in-charge K A Annamalai who signed a certificate declaring collectorate as corruption-free zone.

Speaking to Express, Chandramohan, Delhi core-committee member of IAC, said the campaign is a confidence building measure among the public. “This will give assurances to the people and change their psyche by having higher expectations from the officials instead of being pessimistic that the government offices and officials are corrupt,” said Chandramohan.

“We are planning to visit every government offices and ask the head of the departments to sign the certificates declaring their offices as corruption free. We will also honour honest employees,” said Chandramohan.

This campaign will also encourage the honest officials to do their duty besides bringing in the confidence among the people. They also pasted stickers in English and Tamil in front of the offices.

Welcoming such campaigns, the district collector signed up the certificate certifying that he and his officials will not indulge in corruption while carrying out their duties
