Metro water sets up eight new area offices


 New offices to function as HQs for expanded corporation limits


Chennai:
Chennai Metro Water has established eight new area offices following the expansion of Corporation of Chennai, according to Metro Water sources.

The offices which will be located at Thiruvottiyur, Manali, Madhavaram, Ambattur, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Perungudi and Sholinganallur will function as headquarters for operation and maintenance activities, Metro water sources said.

These offices will be positioned in the same office building where corporation zonal offices are functioning and will have four superintending engineer level officers to monitor th activities of these newly created area offices and operation and maintenance activities.

Metro water has posted eight executive engineers in each zones for the purpose of monitoring and redressal of public complaints related to water and sewer in the newly added areas. Each executive engineer will be assisted by a team of officials who coordinate with the staff working in erstwhile municipalities, town panchayats and village panchayats.

Sholinganallur area office is functioning from erstwhile town panchayat office where as Perungudi area aoffice is functioning from Ulagaram-Puzhuthivakkam municipal office. All other area offices will function from erstwhile municipal office buildings.

The helpline number 45674567 of Metro water head office will continue to be a common helpline number entire expanded city besides wireless system has been set up in these offices for communicating the complaints from head office to newly added areas or from the area offices to head office for reporting and monitoring purposes, according to Metro Water managing director Dr K Gopal.
