Web based mobile device solution to ensure security of corporate data

A web-based mobile device management solution has been launched to ensure security of mobile devices and sensitive corporate data besides empowering mobile workforce who use different mobile devices.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Manage Engine vice-president Sudhakar S Marthi and the company’s engineering head Shailesh Kumar said that mobile device management solution as part of its Desktop Central is launched to ensure safe adoption of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) along with information security related to company given devices for corporates.

Interestingly, Manage Engine, a division of Zoho Corporation, feels the web-based mobile device management solution is important as more and more Indians prefer mobile phones to desktop to access the Internet forcing corporate firms to look at ways to safeguard the confidential data.

According to market statistics, Internet web access via mobile is 51.63 per cent in India while that of desktop is 48.37 per cent. It is belived that by 2015, Android phones will capture 80 per cent of Indian market, a study predicted.

Shailesh said that with mobile computing, the companies are facing difficulty to manage three to four operating system including Android, Windows, IOS and Blackberry due to lack of expertise. He said Desktop Central’s MDM ensures indepth corporate data protection across IOS, Android and Window devices. He said Desktop Central is a web-based desktop and mobile device management software. Its MDM feature helps in managing mobile devices of the employees from a central location.
