CII mission to Australia to explore new models on higher education

Chennai:
A 15-member delegation of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region, is on a six-day visit to Australia seeking cooperation with Australian institutions with special focus on industry-institute partnership in research and training.

The 15-member Study Mission to Institutions of Excellence in Australia, which began its tour from Monday, would visit leading higher education institutions in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast. They will explore opportunities for collaboration with Australian Universities in the fields of academic research; vocational education, faculty exchange programmes besides partnership for integrated curriculum development for higher education institutions in India and Australia

The CII delegation is lead by Dr Nandini R, mission leader and chairperson, education sub-committee, CII Southern Region and secretary and founder trustee, GRG Institutions and managing director, Chandra Group of Companies, Coimbatore.

the CII delegation members will interact with senior officials of the Education Divisions in Melbourne and Sydney and study the successful industry-institute models followed in Australia. 

The delegation will also interact with officials of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training in Melbourne and explore opportunities for collaboration in vocational education and training.

Some of the leading institutions that will be visited by the delegation during the mission include Deakin University, Latrobe University and Swinburne University (Melbourne), University of New South Wales, University of Western Sydney, Macquarie University and University of Sydney (Sydney) and Queensland University of Technology, University of Queensland and University of Griffith (Queensland), a CII release said.

The mission is expected to provide a lead for the academic fraternity in India on the huge opportunity for cooperation with Australian institutions on world-class education system with special focus on industry-institute partnership in research and training.   Australian education sector is one of the most diverse and among the most effective in the world. The education systems of India and Australia can align well as they are patterned on the British education system, which would help in faster adaptation and implementation of Australian model in the Indian education sector.
 The other CII delegation members include D Chandrasekaran, Director, CK Group of Institutions, Cuddalore, C Balasubramanian, advisor, GKM Group of Educational Institutions, Chennai, Dr MA Maluk Mohamed, managing trustee and principal, M.A.M. Group of Institutions & M A M College of Engineering, Trichy, Anusha  R  Mahesh chief executive officer Park Group of Institutions, Coimbatore, Dr Thangam Meganathan, chairperson, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai,  and others, the release added.
