TN sets up five-member committee to review financial inclusion


Chennai:
Tamil Nadu government has set up a five-member committee to review the
progress of financial inclusion in Tamil Nadu.

The committee consists of chief secretary, additional chief secretary
from finance department, State level banker’s committee (SLBC) nodal
officer, department of financial service nodal officer from Union
finance ministry and State mission director of National Rural
Livelihood Missions (NRLM).

The State-level Financial Inclusion Committee, which has been formed
to hasted the outreach of banking services to all areas, will monitor
and review implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJY),
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima
Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.

The idea is to have Aadhar seeding of Jan Dhan accounts on a voluntary
basis, deployment and training of locally identified banking
correspondents, mobile number seeding of bank accounts and convergence
of efforts among banks and various agencies of the State and Centre.
