Afghan’s elite fighting force nurtured in india

Chennai:
It was a proud moment for Colonnel Masud Stankzi as he silently watches his young officers take a final bow from the Officers Training Academy during the passing out parade here on Saturday.
Afghanistan has 18 of the 370 cadets who have graduated into officers after undergoing gruelling training at the academy.
“This year we are having the highest number of cadets graduate to officers from OTA,” says Col Stankzi, a soldier of Najibullha era.
Paying tributes to the instructors of the elite Indian army institute, he says the training is the best and these officers will join the six corps of Afgan army.
“Ours is a new army and our officers are undergoing training at Italy, Germany, United States, Turkey and United kingdom,’ says the defence attaché of Afghanistan.
But he feels Afghans training in India have an advantage over their counterparts. “Here they know the language and can understand the commands,” he says.
To a query on how the country divided by different clans and tribes be united, Col Stankzi says our army is young but consists of people from different clans and it will stand united in protecting the country.
Currently we have six corps and each corp has four brigades, says the Afghan officer, adding that the army is prepared to take action against the forces fomenting trouble in their country.
While he did not name any country, he said it is for anyone to understand who that country is.
Some of the Afghan cadets are also the victims of the terror from across the border. “My mother and sister were injured during the suicide bombing,” says First Lt Rohullah Razee. “My first duty is to bring in peace and stability in Afghanistan,” says the young officer.
