Metro Rail structures have been exempted from Town and Country Planning Act
1971, according to a government order issued by housing and urban development
department.
The
decision to exempt the metro rail structures from the Act was taken after a
fifth high power committee meeting held recently, sources said.
The
structures which will be exempted include all metro stations and tracks
supporting structures at grade, elevated and underground including entry
structures, ancillary buildings to house diesel generator sets, chiller plants
and electric substation.
These also
include supply exhaust, tunnel ventilation shafts, depots and maintenance
workshop, traction substations, operational cost centers and structures above
the platform over the footprint of the metro stations.
Sources
said the government exempted the structures under section 113 C of Town and
country Planning Act, 1971.
