CREDAI seeks Stalin's intervention to end crusher units strike

CHENNAI:
The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) Tamil Nadu has urged Chief Minister M K Stalin to intervene in ending the ongoing state-wide crusher units strike as it has severely impacted the construction industry.

The construction industry is facing a shortage of crusher materials -- M Sand, P Sand, crusher dust and other materials for the last four days due to strike by the crusher owners all over the state of Tamil Nadu.

“Due to non-availability of the above materials, we are forced to stop all our construction activities. All the construction labours, including guest workers, have been rendered jobless. Being daily wage earners, they are struggling without remuneration,” said R Ilankovan, president of CREDAI Tamilnadu.

CREDAI has highlighted that the shortage of materials due to the ongoing protest will trigger a delay in the completion of ongoing projects and it will have a cascading effect in the form of additional interest burden not only for the contractors and promoters, but also for the home buyers. “Time is the essence of construction agreements, and we are afraid we may not be able to complete and deliver the projects on time,” he said.

The quarry association is demanding relaxation of rules on mining minor minerals that are used to lay roads and construct buildings.
