Nabard sanctions Rs 28.37 crore for building Adi Dravidar hostels

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned amount worth Rs 28.37 crore for construction of 44 Adi Dravidar and Tribal Community hostels in 17 districts of Tamil Nadu, according to chief general manager of NABARD Lalitha Venkatesan.

Venkatesan said that the projects would benefit 2200 students from 466 villages in the 17 districts.

The amount is given as loan under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF XVIII), for executing infrastructure projects in various sectors.

She said Nabard has also sanctioned loan of Rs 1.50 crore for construction of two godowns in Pudukottai and Karur district of Tamil Nadu. On completion, these projects will create all weather storage capacity for 3000 MT of agriculture produce, she added.
With this, the cumulative sanction by Nabard, under RIDF-XVIII for 2012-13 is Rs 1286.30 crore, of which Rs 152.70 crore is specifically for development of storage and warehousing facility in the State, a Nabard release said.
