Goats on bonnet raise policeman's wrath

Chennai:
When Mary let her three little goats out in the morning, little did she know that the next time she sees the naughty trio would be after they were taken into preventive custody by the city police.
Mary, a resident of Shastri Nagar, has been slapped with a CSR (Community Service Register) after three of her goats trampled over a PCR van.
The goats, which were found roaming about aimlessly at the G-3 Kilpauk police station, invited the wrath of city police car driver Ganesh Babu after they walked all over his ‘squeaky clean’ Innova car on May 27, leaving scratch marks on his bonnet.
Irritated by the mess the goats had created overnight, Babu caught the naughty trio and even filed a complaint against the owner.
Babu is a bit of a ‘neat freak’ when it comes to the car and would wash it everyday, Inspector Charles Sam Rajadurai tells Express. The CSR filed against Mary states that the goats had damaged the car.
The goats have been handed over for preventive detention to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which is taking care of them for the time being.
Going by how the restless trio was nibbling at an SPCA volunteer’s shirt, the goats might have to be kept under close watch to prevent yet another CSR.
Last month, Madurai-resident Shivakumar was seen sauntering in the corridors of the district court carrying a goat. Though his goat was stolen and then recovered, it was a long and lengthy procedure for the 30-year-old before he could take ‘evidence’ in a theft case, in other words the goat, back home without producing it in court.
