Indian Railways is looking at introducing restroom comfort as those prevailing in the aircraft, according to Union Railways Minister Piyush Goel.
Addressing reporters from 12 cities, the minister said that Indian Railways is planning to introduce Vaccuum toilets in the trains. “These airline style toilets are compact and hygienic,” said the minister.
He said that Indian railways is becoming differently-abled friendly by setting up ramps and hand-rests but the issue remains when it comes to access to trains.
Differently abled still have to rely on physical assistance to board the train. “We have to look at some design change,” the minister said.
