CHENNAI:
Two persons were arrested and 3kg of gold worth Rs 93 lakh was seized by sleuths of Air Intelligence Unit while on surveillance at tarmac area on Tuesday.
Officers of Air Intelligence Unit, based on inputs from the Crime and Intelligence Wing of CISF intercepted one airline staff along with one passenger, who had arrived from Dubai by Oman Airline flight.
The two persons were behaving in a nervous and incoherent manner. From the passport, the passenger was identified as Rashid, (31) from Kasargod in Kerela. And from the permanent pass issued by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the airline staff was identified as P Vijay Murugan, (28), who is employed as Customer Agent in Air India Air Travel Services Ltd (Air India), a Customs release stated.
On personal search of P Vijay Murugan (28), 24 gold bars of 10 tolas each and 2 gold plates gold totally weighing 3 kg valued at Rs 93 lakhs which were concealed in two black mobile flip covers were recovered . On further interrogation, Murugan confessed that the gold was given to him by Rashid and he was supposed to hand over the gold to him outside the Airport. Further investigation is on
