CHENNAI:
The
modernisation and upgradation of Chennai Fishing Harbour is planned at
an estimated cost of Rs 100 Crores with 100 per cent central Funding,
according to a release by Chennai Port.
This comes after L
Murugan, Union Minister of State of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and
Dairying and information and Broadcasting visited Chennai Port and
reviewed the development activities planned at Chennai Fishing Harbour,
Kasimedu.
The project cost shall be shared between the
Department of Fisheries under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and
Ministry of Ports Shipping and Waterways under Sagarmala on a 50:50
basis. The modernisation and upgradation of Chennai Fishing Harbour
shall include Infrastructure projects such as additional fish landing
wharf, Mechanised Fish Handling Complex, Ship-lift Boat Repair facility,
Cleaning, Packaging and Cold Storage Facility etc.
