Rs 50,000 crore to develop Chennai


Chennai:
Tamil Nadu plans to spend Rs 50,000 crore in development of Chennai in the next 11 years, according to the vision document.

Estimating an investment of Rs 275,000 crore to boost urban infrastructure, the document says the key projects to be undertaken in the next 11 years include development of Chennai into megapolis, development of 10 world class cities besides rehabilitation of 15 lakh families living in slums.

The document also envisaged universal access to 24x7 water supply and sanitation services besides access to mass transit systems for efficient urban transport.

  1. Cities are engines of development I sincerely hope that they are inclusive.... hopefully the urban poor are not ghettoised in the guise of EWS Housing.....
