After
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa unveiled her Vision document for Tamil Nadu,
industry is charting out plans for the state to realize her dream by promoting
the state as a global brand.

to Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry president P Murari
along with FICCI chairman Tamil Nadu State Council Rafique Ahmed told reporters
that efforts are on to not only woo the global investors by promoting Tamil
Nadu as global brand but also to woo domestic investors and this will be one of
the key agenda of FICCI in the next financial year.
Surprsingly,
FICCI is also hosting a repeat of its national executive committee meeting in
July. “The meeting is never held on the same venue but after post Vision-2023
unfolding, the forum has gained significance with FICCI national chapter
showing keen interest in hosting the event in Chennai,” said Murari.
Interestingly,
FICCI, which has ranked the state as top three destinations for domestic and
foreign investment in a national study, has developed FOCUS 5, a vision
document of what the present state government should and could aim for the next
five years in five specific sectors. These include energy, agriculture and food
processing, social including health, housing, education, security, industry and
business and infrastructure which includes roads, ports, airport, rail
connectivity and corridors and multi-modal transport.
Meanwhile,
FICCI has revamped its various panels besides forming new panel on retail,
maritime strategies, micro small and medium enterprise panel and aerospace and
defence panel.
Murari
said plans are also on promote Tamil Nadu as tourist destination. He said the
state has huge tourism potential, which has not been exploited. Meanwhile,
roadshows are also being planned in India and abroad, said Murari.
