Chennai:
Tamil Nadu will establish 10
super specialty hospitals across the state and will provide tertiary care
within 150 km from any location in the state, according to the Vision 2023
document.
Estimating an investment of
Rs 11,000 crore, the document, which was released by Chief Minister J
Jayalalithaa, stated that primary and secondary health network will be
strengthened in such a manner that a referral center is available within a
maximum distance of 5 km from every sub-centre.
The document, prepared along
with Asian Development Bank experts and ICRA Management Consulting services
Limited, also said that all primary and secondary hospitals will be connected
by al weather black topped road and bus connectivity will be ensured at least
twice every day from every village to the nearest sub center and referral
hospital.
The government said that to
ensure round the clock availability of doctors and nurses, all primary health
centers will be provided with good residential accommodation dor atleast a
doctor and three staff nurses.
Special focus will also be
provided on non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension,
cardiovascular diseases and cancer which are emerging as major cause of
morbidity and mortality, the document said, adding that a two-pronged strategy
will be adopted to tackle these diseases.
The document also said trauma
and disaster management systems will be strengthened across the state to
provide relief services within an hour of receipt of information.
