Union Minister demands action against those involved in assaulting photojournalist


Chennai:
Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy on Saturday demanded strict action against those involved in the attack on The New Indian Express photojournalist.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a Staff Selection Workshop here, the minister said that the attack on the photojournalist is condemnable and the state government should initiate action against those responsible.

He was reacting to the attack on 23-year-old Albin Mathew by a senior professor at IIT Madras campus while on an assignment to investigate the death of IIT student at the campus.

“Media is the fourth pillar of the democracy. We stand by the journalist community in the country," he said.
