Chennai:
In the wake of recent power outage in northern and
eastern grids, wind energy associations have urged the Ministry of Non-renewable Energy for higher
generation based incentives (GBI) over a 10-year period besides seamless
national grid connectivity to evacuate power from the wind farm.
Stressing the need for investor friendly policies to
accelerate wind energy development, Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers
Association (IWTMA), Indian Wind Energy Association (InWEA) and the Indian Wind
Power Association (IWPA) on Wednesday urged Ministry of Non-renewable Energy to
take immediate action on key pending policy actions that can accelerate the
capacity addition to the sector and bolster India’s power equation with
contribution from the wind energy sector
They also urged the ministry to bring back accelerated
depreciation that was discontinued in the current fiscal with some
modifications that will help investments by micro and small medium enterprises,
a release said.
The associations also sought compulsory power purchase
agreements (PPA) by all State Electricity Boards under the Central Electricity
Regulatory Commission norms besides deployment of the National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) for the wind energy
sector.
The also demanded single window clearance for wind energy
projects in all states besides policy on re-powering the old windmills.
