Chennai:
In a bid to generate awareness on health and popularize various
projects launched by state and Union governments, 200 artistes will be
conducting a special campaign across the state beginning from August 6.
The initiative is launched by Song and Drama Division of
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in association with Union Ministry of
Health and Family Welfare and state health and family welfare department.
Speaking during the two day orientation and workshop programme
organized here on Thursday, Dr Nirmal Joe, regional director, Union health and
family welfare said that 17 troupes registered with the Song and Drama division
will be conduction 720 programmes across the state.
The focus will be to popularize recently launched Janani
Shishu Suraksha programme, a completely free and cashless services to pregnant
women including normal deliveries and caesarean operations and sick new born
(up to 30 days after birth) in government health institutions in both rural and
urban areas.
The campaign will also focus on making the women aware of
abortion facilities available in community health centres besides insurance for
mothers.
The Rs 80 lakh project will be launched on August 6 and
will initially cover 17 districts of the state.
