Chennai:
Chennai Airport will be introducing a series of measures to ensure passengers have a pleasant time while flying in and out of the city, according to Chennai Airport director G Chandramouli.
Under Airport Authority of India’s Project DISHA ( Driving Improvement in Service and Hospitality at Airports), Chennai Airport has tried to cut down on check-in time which was usually 25 minutes to 15 minutes.
It is learnt that Chennai airport has created self check-in counters as well as installed additional X-Ray scanner. A airport spokesman said that a new optimised security check layout (with upgraded frisking booths, tables, rollers) is also being implemented.
He said that Chennai airport has commissioned four new ladies frisking booths on Wednesday. The airport is also planning a new immigration counter layout which will be implemented once the Bureau of Immigration augments its manpower.
Meanwhile, a full audit of all toilet facilities has been undertaken and a complete fixture overhaul has been initiated to replace broken faucets and door knobs.
Airport has also taken up a new initiative to display first to last bag time on all arival belts on the information screens. “This initiative is likely to be completed by end of this month,” the airport director said.
There are plans to improve shopping options at airport for passengers by opening the newly refurbished Duty Free store. Plans are also on to implement feedback machines at airport which will allow passengers to give live feedback.
