Unauthorised construction sealed in residential building


CHENNAI:

The unauthorized construction in the fourth floor of a residential apartment on Pammal Main Road has been locked and sealed by Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority under Section 56 and 57 of the Town and Country Planning Act .


According to CMDA release, the action was taken after Madras High Court hearing a petition by G Srinivasan, Secretary, Surendra Homes Apartment Owners Welfare Association directed the CMDA to proceed against the deviated construction in fourth floor of the residential building after giving de-occupation notice.

CMDA issued planning permission for the construction of group development of two blocks -- Block-1, which includes stilt floor plus 3 Floors plus 4th Floor (part) residential building with 35 dwelling units and Block-2 having a Association Room (ground floor only) at Pammal Main
Road in Pallavaram in 2007.

The release stated that Flat number 409 in the 4th floor part was built by covering the open terrace portion together with a room constructed below the overhead tank in the terrace. Two more rooms and a toilet were constructed in the stilt floor which are also constructed unuthorizedly were locked and sealed on Thursday.
