Rs 3.7 lakh crore to boost transport infrastructure


Chennai:
A total of Rs 3.7 lakh crore is required in the next 11 years to boost the transport infrastructure in the state, according to the Vision 2023 document.

These include development of mono or metro rail netweorks in two other cities besides Chennai, a freight corridor connecting Chennai and Thoothkudi besides high speed rail link connecting Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Kanyakumari.

The state is also planning upgradation of existing airports in Coimbatore, Trichy and Madurai to international class with a capacity of 10 million passengers.
