Chennai:
Now stay
away from computers, televisions, cordless and mobile phones, and even compact
fluorescent light bulbs to escape from diabetes, if researchers are to be
believed.
International
researchers have found that electro-pollution causes Type III diabetes and
Indian researchers from Chennai taking the cue from it are planning to study
how the genes could be affected by dirty electricity resulting in Type III
diabetes.
Prof S M
Rajendran of Barath University’s Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital said that the new
research centre for Diabetes and Obesity, which was opened on Wednesday, will
study how dirty electricity results in increase in blood sugar as well as how
it effects the genes.
Prof Rajendran,
who is also former head of the department of medicine and diabetology in Stanley Medical College said that plans are on to tie up
with Indian Council for Medical Research and United Kingdom’s Royal College of Physicians and
Surgeons in Glasgow. He said the management has agreed
to fund the research by offering Rs 25 lakh.
Interestingly,
the study is planned after it was found out that Type-3 diabetics experience
spikes in blood sugar and an increased heart rate when exposed to electrical
pollution after exposed to computers, televisions, cordless and mobile phones,
and even compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Interestingly,
Trent University in Canada recently published the results of a
study conducted on the relationship between electromagnetic fields and
diabetes in Electromagnetic Biology and
Medicine.
Prof
Rajendran said even the treadmills, which are suggested to cut down blood sugar,
does the opposite by increasing blood sugars.
