‘PM won’t let UPA act against Bansal’

Chennai:
BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao on Saturday hit out at the UPA over the involvement of Union Railway Minister P K Bansal’s nephew in a Rs 90 lakh bribery for fixing a top-level position in the government.
Reacting to a query on the arrest of Bansal’s nephew V Singla, Rao said till the Prime Minister continued, no action will be taken against Bansal. He alleged that Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s interest is being protected by Manmohan Singh. He also alleged that the coal scam leads to the highest leadership of Congress.
Rao took a cautious approach while replying to a query over the violent protests by PMK cadre demanding release of their leader S Ramadoss stating that when one fails to transcend politics it becomes divisive.
He dismissed the third front stating that Mulayam Singh Yadav should have the ability to fight CBI and the Congress before launching the third front.
He said BJP is the only alternative and added that no other political party is sure of itself on what will happen to it. He evaded a query on with whom BJP will have a truck during the Lok Sabha elections in the state. “Any party serious about unseating of Congress and which has no other priority than ending the corrupt rule will be a natural ally of BJP,” Rao said.
He hit out at the PM for downplaying the border issue between India and China as a local issue and at the government’s inaction over handling of the Sarabjit issue besides the foreign policies in Maldives and Sri Lanka.
“The Congress government is not able to protect our fishermen who get killed or arrested by Sri Lanka,” the BJP national secretary said. He said the Supreme Court castigating the CBI for showing a report on its coal investigation to the government before submitting it has shaken the conscience of the people
