Chennai:
Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested managing director of a
Bangalore-based firm in a bribery case involving chief manager of
Madras Fertilizers Limited.
A CBI spokeperson said that P Gnana Sambandam. chief manager of
process engineering and project (acting) Madras Fertilisers Limited,
Yalavarthi Sreenivasalu, managing director of Hi-Tech Air Power
Limited, Bangalore and K V Redappa, sales coordinator at branch office
of Hi-Tech air Power Limited have been arrested.
The spokesperson said that Anti Corruption Branch in Chennai arrested
Gnanasambandam while receiving a bribe of Rs one lakh from Hi-Tech Air
Power’s sales coordinator KV Reddappa. During investigation,
Yalavarthi Srinivasalu was also arrested, CBI said.
A case has been registered under various sections of Prevention of
Corruption Act against Gnanasambandam, Srinivasulu and Redappa on
allegations of awarding tender for the supply and installation reverse
osmosis memrance and issue of certificate after Guaranteed Test Run to
Hi-Tech Air Power.
CBI said that searches have been conducted at eight places in Chennai
and two places in Bangalore including the residences and offices of
the accused.
“During the searches, several incriminating documents, files, hard
discs and mobile phones were recovered,” CBI said.
The trio were produced before the special judge for CBI cases and have
been remanded to judicial custody.
