C SHIVAKUMAR @ CHENNAI:
Tamil
Nadu government is on the verge of appointing chairperson and members
of the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority and Apellate
Tribunal.
A
top official said that the selection committee to appoint the
chairperson and members of authority and appellate tribunal which
consist of Chief Justice of Madras High Court, state Housing secretary
and Law secretary met last Thursday.
The meeting is crucial as it will finalise modalities for seeking nominations for the posts of chairman and members of the authority and members of the tribunal.
The
official said the meeting has yet to finalise on the chairman. “The
selection Committee has 60 days to make recommendation to the
government,” the official added.
The
interim head of TNRERA or then housing secretary Dharmendra Pratap
Yadav had already appointed several former officials of CMDA as members
of the authority. The appointments have been questioned as there was no
transparency in appointing them.
Sources
indicated that a chartered accountant should head the finance
department to usher in transparency rather than retired officials of
Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority who have been facing audit
queries.
