Chennai:
Plans
are on to develop aerospace cluster in Tamil Nadu in the next five years to
make the state one of the top four aerospace destinations in India, according
Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Asit
K Barma, convenor of FICCI-Tamil Nadu State Council manufacturing panel said
that FICCi has prepared a pathbreaking and one of its kind proposal for
creation of aerospace cluster in the state.
Eyeing
the huge demand in avaiation sector pricularly in defence as well as private
jets, Barma says the cluster will give value addition of $20 billion to the
state besides employing 500,000 work force by 2025.
He
said FICCI ism proposing it to be in Avadi, which is the hub of Combat Vehicles Research and Development
Establishment (CVRDE). “The defence research development organization labs can
work in conjunction with the aerospace research asnd development organization
and manufacturers of aviation industry spare parts. “This will also enhance the
skills of the workforce and provide jobs to the people,” he added.
