Chennai:
Car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited unveiled its much awaited next generation all new compact sedan Swift DZire here on Friday.
The four variants of the petrol car are priced from Rs 4.77 lakh to Rs 6.20 lakh in Chennai, according to Mayank Pareek, managing executive officer (marketing and sales) Maruti Suzuki.
He said the petrol variant LXi is priced Rs 4.77 lakh, VXi car Rs 5.33 lakh, VXi AT costs Rs 6.53 lakh and ZXi is priced at Rs 6.20 lakh.
Similarly, the diesel variant LDi costs Rs 5.80 lakh, VDi is priced Rs 6.31 lakh and ZDI is available for Rs 7.12 lakh.
Mayank said these are introductory prices and the carmaker will have a relook at it.
Interestingly, the company still has its focus on north besides plans are on to open a plant in Gujarat to get access to sea and the market in Europe. “We don’t have any major plans for south in the near future,” he said.
Maruti has started on the same path as it did for Old Zen. Kill a popular car is Maruti's old habit. With the boot lost in this model, and lacking the flexibility of folding rear seats of Swift. I think this is one car taken out just for the heck of taking out a new model. The suicide part comes from discontinuing the old DZire rather than leaving the choice to the customer. Who does market research for Maruti, May god grant them some common sense.
