IIM Trichy targets working executives in Chennai with three year management course

In a bid to have its presence in Chennai, Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirapalli is wooing the working executives with a three year post-graduate programme in business management (PGPBM).

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, IIM Trichy dean of administration and accounts, Prof G Sethu, chairperson of the post graduate programme Prof Suresh Paul Antony and the course committee member assistant prof K S Manikandan said that IIM Trichy will be offering the course at its Chennai Centre at Ekkaduthangal.

The course which will be available at a consolidated fee of Rs 10 lakh spread over nine terms for any age group and is primarily designed to cater to the needs of working executives. Assistant Prof Manikandan said that the faculty will be available this Sunday at the Lemon tree Hotel, Guindy for an interactive session with prospective candidates.   

Interestingly, those working executives can stretch it to five years in case of work pressure or abrupt transfers.

Antony said that the curriculum is completely aligned with the two-year full-time post graduate programme in Trichy and includes 18 core courses, 15 elective courses and one industrial project. The classes, which will commence on August 29,  will be held on evenings from Wednesday to Saturday from 1845 hours to 2130 hours. The intake of the course is 40 to 45 students and the inaugural batch will be awarded the post graduate diploma at the annual convocation at Trichy in March 2015.

The application form and programme can be downloaded at the institute’s website (www.iimtrichy.ac.in). Applicants will be selected after preliminary scrutiny, a written test and a personal interview. Those applicants who have a valid CAT 2011 score are exempted from the written test. The last date for receipt of applications is July 23.
