Income Tax officials raid Meenakshi Group of institutions

Income tax officials conducted raids on the premises of Meenakshi group of institutions located in 17 places including Chennai, Kanchipuram and Puducherry.

 

The searches, which were conducted by 17 teams to verify the doubts over tax evasion by the group, began around 8 am on Tuesday and Income Tax sources said that it is likely to continue till Wednesday morning.

 

The raids were also carried out in the newly launched newspaper office besides various institutions across the city including their office in K K Nagar. Income Tax sources said that 14 places in Chennai were searched by officials.

 

The searches are being carried out in the wake of similar operations being conducted against Namakkal schools and SRM Group of companies last month besides Lion Dates Impex Pvt Ltd, Saravana Bhavan chain of hotels and Adyar Ananda Bhavan this month.
