CMDA selects 35 Marimalai Nagar plot owners

Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority on Wednesday selected the
owners of 35 plots under Marimalai Nagar- Gudalur scheme through
drawal of lots at Kilapuk.

The process of selecting the owners was these plots under Marimalai
Nagar-Gudalur scheme was disrupted on February following protests by
applicants who suspected irregularities in the allotment of serial
numbers to the applications that were considered for the draw.

During that time a total of 68 owners of the 105 plots were selected.
A total of 37 owners of the plots were to be selected. Sources said
draw was held for only 35.

CMDA sources said the lots were held for 22 low income group plots,
six middle income group plots and seven high income group plots.

CMDA received more than 61,000 applications for the 105 plots, ranging
between 300 square feet. and 3,000 square feet, and priced from Rs
1.25 lakh to Rs 19.77 lakh.

It is learnt that CMDA earned Rs 6 crore through the sale of
application forms for the plots. Each non-refundable application form
cost around Rs 1,000.
