CII mission to Switzerland, Germany to study global best practices on vocational education, skills training

In a bid to explore opportunities for collaboration  in vocational education, research and skills training, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is mounting a five-day Study Mission to Vocational Training  Institutions of Excellence in Switzerland and Germany from October 21-25.
The mission will visit Switzerland from October 21-22 and Munich, Germany between October 23 and 25.
The 12-member delegation comprises of heads of leading educational institutions, vocational training institutes and industry organisations from across South India and is led by Dr Nandini R, chairperson, education sub-committee, CII – Southern Region and director and founding Trustee, GRG Group of Institutions.
The main objective of the mission is to gain knowledge of policies, programs and standards towards quality vocational education offered in Switzerland and Germany and to explore opportunities for collaboration with leading institutes on vocational education and skills training,  said  Dr Nandini.
During the visit, the mission members would study various successful models on vocational education such as the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET), she added.
The vocational education scenario and industry connect practices in Switzerland and Germany, adopts a project-based learning approach that are result oriented. It facilitates students to gain competencies working on original data; different from the traditional lectures or seminars. Their system seeks open pathways and functional equality between vocational education and training and general/higher education that provides a framework for lifelong learning.
