Chennai:
A
hi-tech weaving park that was sanctioned during the previous AIADMK regime is
likely to be revived, according to Union Textiles Minister K Sambasiva Rao.
The
park which was sanctioned by the state government in June 2005 for
establishment of Hi-tech weaving park in Andipatti under Textile Centre
Infrastructure Development Fund with the assistance from Union government to
uplift the power loom sector could not be taken up for the last eight years, he
said.
The
project was revived under the in August 2009 under scheme for integrated
textile parks by the Union government. However, it was cancelled by the Union
government in October 2011 citing poor progress due to various reasons.
The
minister said entrepreneurs has come forward to help revive the project.
