Luminous to set up new battery facility in Tamil Nadu

Luminous Power Technologies, one of the leading power backup solutions provider would set up its new Inverter battery facility in Tamil Nadu in its endeavour to strengthen its market standing in South India and reaching out to consumers, especially in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, managing director of Luminous Manish Pant said that the state-of the-art manufacturing plant, located at Hosur would be operational by next month.

Spread across an area of approximately 2.5 hectares, the investment would be two-phased in the plant to increase capacity

“We have initially invested Rs 10 crore on the plant and in the next three years we will be putting in Rs 50 crore,” he said.

This is the eighth plant of Luminous and the first outside of North India for Luminous. The plant initially will have a capacity of producing two lakh batteries per annum. “In the next three years the facility could be expanded to manufacture 10 lakh batteries,” he said.

Pant said that South India, especially Tamil Nadu, has always been a key market for Luminous Power Technologies and the setting up of production facility here is a critical step strengthening our presence in the region.

He estimated that the inverter market in the south  is roughly about 20 pere cent of the national market and is growing at a rate of 20 to 25 per cent.

He said that Luminous aims to increase channel partner network for electrical offerings as well in the region building on the strong presence for Home UPS and battery market.
