Over 25,000 landline and broadband connections of Bharat Sanchar Nigam
Limited Chennai Telephones’ were hit after Anna Nagar Main Exchange,
Avadi and Ambattur telephone exchanges suffered technical glitches due
to power fluctuations.
BSNL Spokesperson Vijaya told Express that broadband and landline
connections were hit after the fluctuations in the high tension power
that is supplied to the exchanges.
“Due to the power fluctuations the software and hardware got corrupted
and we have restored the broadband services. We will be restoring the
voice services by tonight,” the spokeswoman said.
The power fluctuations happened due to the heavy downpour, she said,
adding that the vendor Erricson is attending to the problem. The
landline numbers starting with 2620, 2621 and 2622 were affected, she
said.
