Passport Mela on Nov 1


RPO increases intake of passport applications from Oct 30


Chennai:

In a bid to meet the growing demand for passports, the regional
passport office in the city has increased the daily intake of
applications from 1850 to 2,080.

Regional Passport Office said that the appointments for submission of
applications at the three passport seva kendras (PSKs) will be
increased from October 30.

Now Passport Seva Kendra, Saligramam, would be handling 1,300 normal
applications per day while Passport seva Kendra in Aminjikarai would
be handling 400 applications (300 normal and 100 tatkal). The passport
seva Kendra in Tambaram would be handling 380 applications (300 normal
and 80 tatkal).

Meanwhile, the walk-in appointment would continue for senior citizens
and physically challenged in passport seva Kendra in Saligramam and
for infants below three years in Aminjikarai.

Meanwhile, 70 more appointments per day were released for tatkal
applications resulting overall increase in tatkal appointments from
110 to 180.

The regional passport office in Chennai is also holding Passport Mela
on November 1 at all three passport kendras. Since it is being held on
Saturday, all the three kenras will function as normal. It is believed
that around 1700 applicants are likely to benefit from the mela.

Those who want to participate in the mela have to log on to the
website www.passportindia.gov.in, register online, generate
application registration number, pay online fees and then take
appointment. Applicants should also bring the printout of ARN with
appointment details. Only applications under normal category will be
accepted. The appointments will be released on October 29 at 1445
hours for the mela.

Meanwhile to sort out pending applications, RPO Chennai will observe
Tuesdays as Internal Review Day and no enquiries will be entertained
at Rayala Towers in Anna Salai on that day.
