TN planning rope car facility to Sundaramahalingam Temple

CMRL prepares feasibility report


Chennai:

A rope car facility to Sri Sundaramahalingam Temple atop Chaturagiri
Hills in Virudhnagar district is likely to come up soon.

Official sources told Express that a feasibility report on providing
rope car facility to the temple was prepared by for chief general
manager of Chennai Metro Rail Somasundram, who is also the brain
behind the metro rail engineering.

Sources said that the report is likely to be submitted to the Tamil
Nadu government soon.

People believe that siddha purushas (saints) inhabit the Chaturagiri hills.

Sources said that Somasundaram inspected the hills last month on
September 18 along with top officials of Tourism and wildlife
departments and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.

The official sources said that it is learnt that the rope car facility
from Nellikuttam to the temple premises is feasible. The temple
attracts huge devotees on auspicious days.

Currently, pilgrims trek eight km to reach the temple situated at an
altitude of 4500 feet.
