Packaged drinking water assn to stage stir

Chennai:

Tamil Nadu Packaged Drinking Water Manufacturers Association (TPDWMA)
went on a hunger strike on Tuesday demanding release of AIADMK
general secretary J Jayalalithaa.

Chennai south region secretary S Sundar said though the association
will stage protest near Velachery railway overbridge on Palikaranai
Road but the supply of packaged drinking water won’t be hit.

“It is an essential commodity. The production as well as supply of
water will continue,” he said.

Sundar said that across Tamil Nadu, the association has 1100 units.
“Employees as well as owners from the nine regions will participate in
the protest which will start from 9 am and last till 5pm,” he said.

Association members from Tirunelveli, Vellore, Nagapatinam,
Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruchy, Madurai, Chennai North and Chennai South
will participate in the protest.
