Chennai’s skyline to change with launch of tallest residential tower project in TN

Chennai’s skyline is set to change with launch of the state’s tallest residential tower project which is expected to be completed within three years.

Addressing a press conference to announce the launch of the Rs 120 crore project, T Chitty Babu, chairman and chief executive officer of Akshaya said the 132 metres tall skyscraper Abov (422 feet), which will be located in Kazhipatturon Old Mahabalipuram Road, will become the landmark address in Chennai similar to what Burj Al Arab is to Dubai or the Empire State building to New York or Gherkin to London or Petronas to Malaysia.

The 38-floor building, which was conceptualized four years ago, got the approval only on Wednesday. Termed as height of luxury, the building  will have 6,700 square feet single plate 31 residential homes in each floor priced at Rs 6.5 crore to Rs 7.5 crore each.

The project, which is monitored by IIT Madras has already got a five-star rating from CRISIL, and Chitty Babu expects it to get seven star rating once the project gets completed.

Interestingly, the materials for project was imported from 17 countries. “We handpicked luxury brands for interiors and decors from globally renowned firms and the building will be quake resistant, will adhere to National Building Code and will have multi-level security systems for living par excellence.

The life size model of the project, which took three months to be designed in Hong Kong, was displayed on the occasion. There was also a virtual treat as the project was showcased in 3D interior architectural renderings which could be controlled by body gesture.

Babu said that there will be 32 swimming pools with each apartment having one besides a public pool making it the India’s only luxury green home with most number of pools in a residential block. There will also be a multi-cusine restaurant in the first level of tower besides a world’s best spa in the next floor. Interestingly, the buildings will not have switches and will be operated by iPad. There will also be a clubhouse at the 34th floor.

The other amenities include 100 per cent power back-up touchpad controlled smart home, 10 years maintenance by Akshaya, exclusive elevators for 31 homes, three car park space per residence, classy home automation, exclusive suites for guests, piped gas supply, private movie hall, gaming arcade, a panoramic skywalk and many more.
