Chennai:
The rough seas may pose a hurdle in discharge of canal water
into the sea, according to PWD sources.
Interestingly, the canals like Otteri Nullah and
Virugambakam Canal are flowing smoothly after it was cleared of silt and weeds.
PWD sources said after the
cleaning up the tail end of Otteri Nullah 15 years after the waterway was
blocked by silt and weeds, areas like Pulianthope in North Chennai are free
from flood waters.
He said officials from PWD are
monitoring the canals to check whether the flow is mooth or not. He said the
flow is nearly 60 to 70 per cent in Otteri Nullah and Virugambakkam Canal and
has not exceeded the alarming level.
