In a bid to check unauthorized construction in Chennai Metropolitan Area, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority’s (CMDA) on Friday locked and sealed a building at Palaniappa Nagar in Valsaravakkam here for violating section 56 and 57 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.
CMDA said the owner of Chetty Nadu Mahal Kalyanamandapam at plot number 138 and 139 had obtained planning permission on June 30, 2004 for construction of ground floor as gymnasium and first floor as residential building.

CMDA said the owner of Chetty Nadu Mahal Kalyanamandapam at plot number 138 and 139 had obtained planning permission on June 30, 2004 for construction of ground floor as gymnasium and first floor as residential building.
However,
in contravention to the approved plan, the owner has constructed ground floor
and first floor but converted it totally as a commercial building
(kalyanamandapam).
The
deviated building involves violation in terms of building dimension, front
setback, side setback and land use.
