Renault to export Duster from Oragadam plant

Chennai:
Automobile major Renault will export its popular sports utility vehicle Duster from its Oragadam manufacturing facility to United Kingdom, according to Renault India Managing Director Marc Nassif

“The first shipment will begin much soon to the UK and the European version will be different from the Indian one,” Nassif told reporters on the sidelines of Auto Serve conference organized by Confederation of Indian Industry.

Nassif said that the company would be using Ennore port to ship Duster to United Kingdom. He also said Duster is also planned for other markets including Western Africa, South Africa, Malaysia and Singapore.

Nassif said that Orgadam plan will be an exclusive hub for Renault to export vehicles to markets which has right-hand drive option. But the prime focus of Renault is India. He said last year Renault sourced about Rs 500 crore worth of components from Indian market.

British Deputy High Commissioner Mike Nithavrianakis and Auto Serve Conference chairman R Dinesh spoke on the occasion.
