Bank of Baroda on Friday launched 31 new ATMs in Tamil
Nadu and Kerala zone on Friday as part of its plan to achieve the target of
6,000 ATMs across the country by this financial year.
Addressing a press conference here, chairman and managing
director of the bank S S Mundra along with general manager of Tamil Nadu and
Kerala zone V Sreedharan said that the bank which has a strong presence in the
north has made inroads in the south in the last three to four years.
“We will be having 500 ATMs by March 2014 in this zone,”
said Mundra.
He said the bank has changed its business model recently
and is focusing more on retail loan, small and medium enterprises and
agriculture. “Tamil Nadu has a strong SME presence and the bank is focusing on
cluster schemes in the state,” Mundra said.
He also said the bank will be recruiting another 7,000
persons this financial year. Mundra said the bank already has 35 e-lobbies
(24X7 customer self service outlets with cash withdrawal, bulk cash deposits,
cheque deposit facility, pass book updating facility and an Internet kiosk for
net banking operations) across the country and has three in Tamil Nadu and
Kerala. “We have one in Chennai and are looking for site to have another one in
the city,” revealed Mundra. By the end of this financial Bank of Baroda plans
to have another 50 e-lobbies across the country.
Sreedharan said that the bank is also inaugurating the
online payment facility for payment of charges or top-up fund for the benefit
of Ennore Port users.
