Chennai:
After a lull, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has started initiating action against developers who are tampering with the buildings that are sealed by CMDA.
CMDA sources said that a police has been asked to act against a developer of a building in Perungudi Industrial Estate in Rajiv Gandhi Road, whose seal has been tampered and leased out to commercial firms.
A CMDA official said they have given a complaint to the police inspector in Okium Thoraipakkam to initiate action against the developer. The building is constructed by one A Vasudevan.
CMDA said the building was locked and sealed on March 13, 2013. However, the seal was tampered on November 14, 2013. The tape affixed at various places of the premises were removed and the entire stilt floor was converted into a ground floor and occupied as automobile showroom.
A CMDA official said that no one has the right to tamper with the seal. A FIR will be filed against the miscreants, he said.
Similarly, another police complaint has been filed for tampering with a sealed building at Plot number 7 and 8 in Bazaar Road in Ram Nagar in Madipakkam. The building was constructed by M S Padmanabhan.
CMDA sources said the building was sealed on November 27, 2013. However, it was found that the seal was tampered during an inspection carried out on the site.  As such a police complaint is given against those who tampered with the seal of the building.
