Chennai:
The tremors in Chennai sparked an
alert with National Disaster Response Force sending in two units immediately
from Arakonnam to Chennai as a precautionary measure.
NDRF commandant S Nedunchezhian
told Express as soon as the tremors were felt in Chenna, two teams which
included 200 NDRF personnel were rushed from Arakonnam to Chennai.
“We received orders asking us to be
present at Chennai so that we may be airlifted by airforce during any eventuality
following the quake,” said Nedunchezian.
The 200 NDRF personnel were
stationed at the airport till 7pm. “We asked the personnel to return following
the orders from superiors as there was no threat now,” he added.
