Now Tamil book of records to showcase hidden talents!

Chennai:
Tamils will now have a platform showcase their hidden talents and potential with the inauguration of Tamil Nadu Book of Records.
The ceremony which began with the lighting of 30 feet tall Kuthuvizhaku, the tallest in the world by Environment Minister B V Ramanaa on Saturday night, had star attractions as well as record holders including actor Vishal who was the first actor to have acted with a squint eye.
Speaking on the occasion, chief editor of Indian Book of Records Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury said the Tamil Nadu version was launched as the state has 40 per cent of world record holders
“With the launch of Tamil Nadu Book of Records the state becomes the first in the world to provide record making or record breaking platform at the state level to record holders,” said Chowdhury, who is also the India bureau chief of Asia Book of Records.
Interestingly, the book will be a yearly affair and is expected to be launched in the next four months. “The first edition will have 600 pages and will consist of 1,000 records. It will be priced sat Rsd 300 to Rs 400,” said Chowdhury who plans to launch the Haryana version in November and Madhya Pradesh version in January.
The Tamil Nadu Book of records will be affiliated to World Record University in New York to which India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records are affiliated. “Any record which we verify has to follow international guidelines. In Tamil Nadu, it will be verified by a team from the Tamil Nadu Book of Records bureau. Once the record is verified it will be sent to the Word Record University who will then give their final concurrence,” he added.
The main thrust will be to recognize the talents of the people besides encouraging them to do adventurous tasks and thereby bring fame to the country by showcasing their talents to the world, said Chowdhury.
Actor Vishal said the book provided the recognition and encouraged him to perform more. “For 250 days I acted with a squint eye in the film Avan Ivan. I was suffering from severe headache but got accustomed to it,” said the kollywood star, who was the first to act with a squint eye.
Similarly, chairman of VGP group of Companies V G Santhosam who was honoured for the biggest Thirukkural Book said the book will showcase the ability and talent of the people from the state. The Thirukural Book weighs one and a half tone and is now in Vellore Institute of Technology’s library, said the businessman.  Others who were honoured during the function include TV anchor Rose for being the first transgender TV show anchor in India, Ashwin Sundar for being the youngest motor sport rider in India, V V Prasanna for his unique album Purandhara Daasaru and radio jockey Dheenadayalan for his longest 168 hours radio jockey marathon.
