Three architects honoured with lifetime achievement award
Chennai:
The concept of greenery is missing in the construction of
buildings and flats and architects should ensure that some space is reserved
for greenery, said former judge of Madras High Court S Jagadeesan.
Speaking after felicitating three noted architects with
Fountainhead Lifetime Achievement Awards, Jagadeeshan said now buildings are
built after uprooting trees and most of the greenery is seen on footpath which
causes hindrance to pedestrians.
Architects before planning a building must ensure green
space within the site, the former judge said.
He said it is not only the engineers who are responsible
for the construction of buildings, the architects are equally responsible and
they must ensure that the building is being built according to the design.
