Chennai:
Nissan
is engaged collaborative research projects with IIT Madras in frontier areas of
automobile technology. It runs the ‘Nissan Support Programme’ to encourage
research and development projects at IITM in the areas of engineering, science,
management, humanities and social sciences. A maximum of five projects are
chosen for funding every year from proposals received from the faculty of IITM,
Dr K Ramamurthy said.
Nissan
and Indian Insititute of Technology, Madras on Tuesday awarded two IITM
students with Nissan Global Foundation Scholarship.
The
two students – Naveen Nikamath and Siddarth Dialini were selected by the joint
committee of Nissan Global Foundation and IIT Madras (IITM).
Dr
K Ramamurthy, dean, academics, IITM said that two students from IIT Madras are
selected every year to attend the scholarship. The scholarship consists of Rs
80,000 as financial aid besides a sponsored trip to Nissan factory in Japan.
The
scholarship was handed over to the students by Hiroki Sasaki, vice-president,
research and advanced engineering Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre
India (RNTBCI) and Hiraoki Hirata, general manager, Nissan Motors L:imited,
Japan.
