Sex-change-op 'victim' turns hostile; gives clean chit to abductors

CHENNAI:

A forced sex-change-operation complainant has turned hostile at the
Mahila Court here giving clean chit to his alleged abductors and said
that the surgery was done only with his concurrence.

Vindod, a minor boy of Kovalam in Kancheepuram district, in his
complaint has earlier alleged that he was abducted to Pune by a group
of transgenders in July 2006 and was forced into prostitution after
castration.

However, during the hearing before the Mahila Court, Vinod alias
Trisha informed that no one had abducted him.

“Arasu alias Arasi (one of the accused in the case) was my friend and
I went to meet him in Bangalore from where we went to Pune. I met few
other transsexuals in Pune. I was attracted by the life of the group.
Following this, I agreed to change the sex,” said Vinod alias Trisha
told the court.

On July 19, 2006, Vinod, (16), was abducted from Kovalam in
Kancheepuram district by Arasi, a transgender and handed over to Suba
of Ramapuram. Suba detained him in the house of Radha who locked him
up for a month.  Radha took Vinod to Pune where he was taught to dress
and behave like a transgender and forced to beg in the streets.

The sex-change surgery was done in Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh on
November 27, 2007.  He was later taken to Pune and his name was
changed to Trisha. He was assigned the task of begging on trains and
at shops.

Later, Vinod was forced into prostitution network in Pune from where
he escaped on March 10, 2009. His mother filed a complaint with the
police.

The accused D. Radha alias Raja (52), S. Subu alias Subakaran (26), S.
Arasu alias Arasi (25), S. Shanthi (32), S. Kuttiamma (31) and S.
Jothi alias Sekhar (42) of Chennai were arrested by the police. They
were charged under various provisions of IPC and the Prevention of
Immoral Trafficking Act.

The judge Meena Satheesh has adjourned the matter to June 16.
