Vanniyar Trust approaches HC for affiliation to start private college

Chennai:

Madras High Court has issued notice to Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law
University after a petition by Vanniyar Educational Trust sought
interim direction to the varsity to grant temporary affiliation to the
Trust to start a private law college at Tindivanam.

Justice B Rajendran after hearing the petition filed by the trust
president G K Mania djourned the hearing to June 13. Mani in his plea
has sought temporary affiliation for the trust to start Saraswathi Law
College at Tindivanam so as to enable petitioner to approach Bar
council of India for approval of the college to commence the academic
year 2014-15.

He also urged the High Court to quash the varsity’s order dated May
27, 2014 that rejected the Trust’s plea to start a private college
stating that it was rejected without any valid reasons.

Mani stated that the petitioner has complied with the requirements and
the fact-finding expert body (the inspection Committee) found all
aspects in favour of the trust and recommended for starting the law
college but the varsitygave frivolous reasons on extraneous
consideration.
